Ok here it goes. I do a few of these Conventions, Expos, exedra, for many reasons. They inspire me to get out into the community and help explain that Divination is not scary or Evil.
People Fear things they don’t understand or have been told since childhood they were Evil. Hence people running for the hills when they see me with a tarot deck or doing divination of any type. Its makes me laugh and cry at the same time watching these people run away for absolute no reason. It takes education and love to tell people we are all ok as long as love is in involved.
I was just at one convention the other day watching people run the other direction. I invited a friend of mine to come with me to this event. Her name is Lynn. (l like company at these things for lots of reasons.) She questioned this scene as she observed it with her own eyes.
“It is something that happens out of ignorance.” I explained to her. “The real reason I do these. Teach people that its part of life and it’s the way the Gods made us.”
To get ready for these events I prep my supplies and of course me. I meditate and relax, knowing full well what my body will go through at these events.
Being an empath means large crowds are not my thing. In fact I go shopping when there is the least amount of people I can. I shop a lot on line to get what I need. On line shopping I wish was invented when I was a kid. It would have avoided many confrontations with my grandmother.
And unlike in a store... at a convention I am working, I’m open for readings. It means anything can happen and it usually does. I don’t usually do medium work at one of these events because it is too random. I do group sessions with clients talking to those who cross over, but not these conventions. I do readings because I can focus on the individual that I am with. Giving them my full attention. Hence the meditation before I go.
Then there are the questions. I prep for them all. I know in my heart what I do is odd. To those who have not grown up with it like myself and many of my friends. To the layman I’m a curiosity. People are bound to be curious and I will get the naysayers. If the Naysayers only knew in some countries they don’t name their children without going to a numerologist or Astrologer. To give their child the best chance for success and that means a successful name. Some big business changed their name in the beginning for that same reason. The number combination from the letters in the business name was bad for business. Even one letter change helped them be successful. People who are scared don’t want to hear that.
I have history on things like, why things became divination tool and when. It’s a way to easy people’s minds on these objects. To show them they are ordinary objects used for a divine purpose. It’s all part of the information process. Just to tell someone they are not to be scared, isn’t enough. People don’t always do their own digging unless you give them a starting point. Another reason why I start them on the journey.
For not only to tell people these are tools first... to explain that a deck.... of cards... playing cards... many people use for divination in some cultures. What? Would you never play go fish with your child again because the cards might be used for something evil purpose? It’s not practical to be scared of everyday items. Again education.
These are the little things I strive for at an event. Bring the message of love and hope for people’s difficult situations that they are going through, is just the icing on the cake.
